Our goal is to foster the love of reading in all children. Research proves time and time again that children who have early and ongoing exposure to books and reading materials are children who also have lifelong literacy success. Educators know that lifelong reading success is directly correlated to putting meaningful books in the hands of children.
As experts in the literacy of young children, we know that cultivating a love of reading in young children is the key to creating children who are lifetime readers. Our program aligns perfectly with all literacy programs in all education settings.
We also recognize, fostering a love of reading is especially critical in schools servicing low income students. Our program specifically targets closing the achievement gap between culturally, linguistically, and economically deprived students and their advantaged peers. We have special teams who reach out specifically to children and schools where there is the greatest educational need by providing resources, teacher training, instructional materials, and books to students and teachers within our systematic program.
Although our greatest focus is on the neediest schools, we welcome ALL elementary schools PK-5 to join our literacy mission. Over the past two years our program has found success in several Title I and non Title 1 schools in Virginia. We have touched over 600 children’s lives with the gift of StoryBook Treasures.
